The Alabama Crimson Tide had quite a memorable season last year. Their big dollar coach accomplished what he was brought in to do. He won a championship. Is a repeat in the wings?

In the not so distant past USC, Miami, Nebraska, and Florida St. have all taken the crown a second year in a row. And I’m sure these teams will tell you that #2 is tougher than #1. #1 comes with no pressure while #2 comes with all the pressure in the world.

The Tide comes back with a team of 9 new defensive starters and the first ever Bama Heisman winner ready to control the field.

But enough with the propaganda…..What do you think?…

Different year, same Brett.

The Vikings ended a great season with a loss to the Super Bowl Champ New Orleans Saints. After which, Brett Favre was undecided about his return to the team for one more year. This is the second year in a row where the team is sitting and waiting.

Teammates and friends Jared Allen, Steve Hutchinson, and Ryan Longwell all took a flight on August 17 to Mississippi to invite their good friend to come back and give it another shot. It was after this visit that Favre decided he would come back to rejoin the Vikings. But one has to wonder, is this delayed decision making possibly hurting the Vikings. With the quarterback position being such a keystone piece for the team’s offense, the team should have this position in place and learning the other key offensive pieces like the Vikings’ new receivers or back up O-lineman.

Could this delayed joining to the team be the reason the Vikings ran out of gas late in last year’s season.

There were several games where he took the snap, tucked the ball into his chest and took off for the end zone. He took many hits (many hurting his defenders), many blows, and was hated by many teams. Tim is a good guy and he’s always been a media darling.

Little Timmie has grown up and moved into the big boy league as a QB with the Denver Broncos. He’s been under much scrutiny for his slow wind up , his frequent running attempts , and even his lob pass as.

Can Tim make this transition? Is he worth a spot in your fantasy league? What do you think?

Situation Monday

We all know the story, and have possibly lived through one of the largest dramatic sports transaction to ever take place – the infamous LeBron James search for a new team, new contract, and new money.

LeBron was faced with quite a conundrum. Should he stay in Cleveland which is about an hour away from his hometown? Should he leave in pursuit of a championship? The transaction dominated the news for weeks and the twitter server almost went down (again).

After an hour long special (something similar to the OJ Simpson low speed chase), LeBron announced his decision to join Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade in Miami. Thus creating one of the most powerful trios in NBA history.

Put that same microscope on yourself for a moment. Would you leave your hometown NBA team for a chance to build a dynasty? Speak up….Let’s hear it….

In the past few years the lives of public officials has become a gold mine that the 49ers would envy. We’ve been involved in sex lives (Bill Clinton), religious affiliations (Barack Obama), and drunken college parties (Dubya’s daughters). None of this has really related to the jobs at hand, but they’ve made major headlines.

At some point these people deserve some level of privacy. Where is that line?

Situation Monday
We’ve all been there before. Your best friend calls, you pick it up, and the sweet melody of pocket lint rubbing the phone receiver responds. You say hello again. More pocket lint. You hear random noises in the background (horns blowing, toilets flushing, babies crying, etc). It dawns on you that you’ve been called [...]

It dawns on you that you’ve been called by mistake. No biggie, it happens to everybody.

Imagine yourself in this situation again with a small twist. This time there is a seemingly harmless conversation is going on. Your first instinct is to hang up. As you reach for the red button you hear your name. With ears wide open you begin to listen to the conversation. 15 seconds in you realize that 3 of your best friends are dragging you through the mud.

In 3 minutes you learn that:

Your mom is ugly

You’re annoying

You’re not going to ever see that $100 that Jerry owes you

You suck at everything else.

10 minutes prior to this you counted these scud suckers as your best friends. What would you do?
