Spotting – allowing another person to assist you with weights in the gym. Spotting usually occurs when you do not possess the power to complete a set of reps at the selected weight. The main purpose of the spotter is to ensure your safety.

Spotting is common behavior among friends in the gym. Spotting simultaneously requires a squelching of the ego and a breach of your personal space. That is why spotting is an uncommon behavior among strangers in the gym. Apparently, people prefer to have somewhat familiar sweat fall on their face instead of totally random sweat.

Imagine yourself at the gym. You want to move up in weight on the bench press, but your workout partner isn’t there. You know that you need a spot. Would you allow a stranger to help you out?

I must warn you now this is going to sound harsh. I feel bad for people whose mates have “let themselves go”. Its saddening to see a person who takes care of themselves chained down to a blob.

As people age they gain weight. Things don’t have to be this way. Since it occurs with so many people it has become a “fact of life”.

The evolution from attractive to blob status usually follows this timeline:

Man/woman takes care of himself/herself while single. Single people know that they are competing.

Man/woman gradually loses site of fitness or health goals as a relationship progresses. Complacency begins to set in.

Man/woman loses all interest in physical upkeep and fitness several years into the marriage. After this occurs the body starts to look less and less attractive.

In all honesty it isn’t fair for a mate to be placed in this situation. The mate has to deal with a loss of attraction while trying not to come off like a jerk.

Certain people deal with this issue by having a weight requirement of their potential mate. This technique is brazen and cold (yet effective). Even if you don’t like the technique you have to admit one thing…being upfront about weight issues is the best way to address them.

With regards to weight requirements how do you feel? Is it the right thing to do? Is it insensitive? Let us know.

Today’s dating world is brutally intense. Everybody has requirements. Long gone are the days when the ability to read, a good paycheck, and good manors were enough to get you in the door. Nowadays if you don’t stand out from the crowd you stand a strong chance of growing old alone.

While everyone has their standards one thing is universal…looks. Physical attraction is a must. Some people (the smart ones) work out to preserve their bodies. A certain segment of those people will only date people who take physical fitness as serious as they do.

Picture this. You meet a new person at a social event. The chemistry is readily apparent. The mandatory questions are asked an answered:

Are you a lunatic? No

Do you work? Yes

Are you spontaneous? Yes

You continue to be impressed by your new target. As the conversation ends the person says that he/she has one final thing to tell you.

“I’m sort of a fitness nut. I eat six small meals a day, drink a gallon of water a day, and I work out 5 days a week. I simply can’t stomach a person who doesn’t look after themselves.”

What would you do or say in this situation?

A major overlooked component of physical fitness is dietary plan. Most people think that all you have to do is workout, run, burn calories and fat, and watch the sexiness appear. That isn’t entirely true.

There are certain people who over complicate this situation. Who are these people…your beloved friends. Friends will persuade you to go to McDonalds when you wanted to eat salad. Friends will invite you to a party at local pizza place when there is a Subway next door. Friends will change their mind about going to the Deli and say they would rather have PF Changs.

Situations like this can be difficult. You have to determine what your next move will be. Do you wait until you get back to home/work or chow down on unhealthy food?

One of the most common and effective exercises is running. Like any other exercise or anything else you do, you need the necessary tools to effectively meet your goals. In the sport of running, you will need adequate running shoes. If you perform a quick Google Shopping search, you can find Saucony for as cheap as $23.27 or you can get the $203.95 New Balance MR1906s.

With such high variation in price, what is the best bang for you buck? What gives you the best support for that marathon run, but doesn’t give you an overdraft at the bank?

Some say that some shoes provide too much support, thus creating “lazy” foot muscles which lead to injuries down the road. But on the opposite end, you need a shoe that provides enough support to sustain the run today. Shoes without enough support can cause injuries tomorrow.

So back to the million dollar question…

It is often deemed awkward to see a man in an aerobics class. Aerobics are typically thought of as a “women only” exercise. However, many places seek to get more men involved in such classes. Men typically think of aerobics as the feminine exercise and their workouts should be focused on manly reps such as weight lifting, kickboxing, or cycling. Guys should consider aerobics because of the many benefits and need for nothing more than space. No weights, bikes, gloves, punching bags necessary. There are a plethora of reason to go, including but not limited to:

Great place to meet women

Balances cholesterol levels in the body

Classes are positive in feeling. As you complete each you class, you feel a sense of winning. Creates a positive outlook on life.

Your body becomes more energized with the increased blood flow circulation.

Great way to burn calories.

Excellent work out for the lungs and heart.

Alcoholism has been researched for years without a clear answer of “why” people become alcoholics. One known fact is that it is attributed to those who drink too much. People have had drink after drink after drink for over 20 years before invading alcoholism. Others have become subdued after the first sip.

So let’s begin at the beginning. Alcohol is a drug. All drugs can be addictive, thus leading to alcohol being the cause of alcoholism. Next you may wonder why start drinking at all.

It helps me cope with problems.

Work is driving me insane!

Drinking is cool.

It keeps me from getting sick.

I don’t have a problem. I don’t drink hard liquor.

My friends do it too.

Most people justify these as reasons for drinking. These are merely excuses. Alcohol is a Depressant, a Central Nervous System Depressant to be exact thus creating a “pseudo” feeling. Whether a happy feeling, calm feeling, excited feeling, or superman feeling, it is a false feeling that leads persons to want to feel this feeling more and more.

But since the book has not been closed, you tell me…Why are you a drunkard?

I’ve seen several people use their age as an excuse for gaining weight. What do you think about the situation?

Is gaining weight a part of getting older?
