What do you have on?

The “What do you have on” question is the only one the star cares to answer. It gives them the chance to tell them how they have a one of a kind piece made especially for them by some top name designer. Regular people like me can only get what the local malls and shops have to offer at descent sales price. However, I do walk past the big name shops from time to time just to see the awesome price tags and give myself quite a laugh.

Enough of me. What is your fav brand of attire.

While growing up in the South, I can recall how fashion trends changed and morphed every single year. I traveled a lot with my parents to many U. S. cities and the first noticeable differences I always saw was clothing or fashion. It was very eye popping to see some of the styles that were present. But relentlessly, the same eye popping attire I would see in New York, Chicago, or Miami would always make its way to Georgia and Alabama the following year.

As I got older, I realized that cities like NYC, Chi-town, and MIA were fashion trend setters. Mom would purchase my clothes for the upcoming school year in these cities and when I wore them to school, I received the same eye popping glazes that I would give when in the larger Metro Cities.

Even on the bigger scale, fashion also begins in some of our foreign nations. Paris is normally the first place that comes to mind when someone says International Fashion. But enough of me…

I was in downtown Atlanta a few days ago. Just hanging out, grabbing a bite with some friends, etc. While walking to the restaurant, we passed a homeless guy that had on a shirt and tie and asked me for some change. His scent and hair quality gave his status away.

When reaching the restaurant, almost every table around us had 4 – 6 guys with either shirt and ties, or suit and ties. I immediately thought, wow – we’re in the financial/business district. After finishing up our food, we headed back to the vehicles. We passed a church that had some type of meeting going on. There were several men at the church with ties on. My immediate thought was, “Gosh, is a tie typical men wear these days”.

So what does a tie represent? Does the tie signify I’m clean cut and need money. Does it say I handle my business and I’m an outstanding business man. Does it say I’m a man of God. You tell us…

These moments hit their peak when someone brings it to the victim’s attention. No need for embarrassment if you don’t know your zipper is down or there is a hole in your shirt. I could almost see a reality TV show with a guy going around pointing out clothing flaws and waiting for the reaction.

Guest Article by Edwin Choi of K12directoryofschools

School Uniforms: Choking Self Expression

Where do you sit on the war over whether or not students should wear school uniforms? Before jumping on the bandwagon that uniforms keep today’s chaotic youth in check, consider the downsides a uniformed campus has on a child’s personal and social development.

Self expression is stifled. School uniforms eliminate one of the key methods elementary, secondary, and high school students alike use to express individuality. In a society that boasts the importance of individual success, putting a cork on the search for the self could be nothing short of lethal to a child’s future experiences. Experts also believe there is no way to completely stop self expression in the psychological development of children and teenagers, so suffocating it with uniforms often leads to other, more inappropriate means of expressing the self.

Students are forced into a mold. When self expression and individuality are choked out of a student body, only a wash is left behind. Students are not exposed to the concept of diversity and go through cultural shock when facing the “real world” of America, where a mold is the last thing we wriggle ourselves into.

Students are not comfortable in uniform. I don’t know about you, but when I sit down to read a book, it’s usually in the most comfortable outfit I can find with a warm cup of chai. If a student is forced into one of the most uncomfortable outfits imaginable—like a uniform they like despise and could very well be made out of itchy, rigid cloth to boot—they’re not going to read their textbooks with the same ease as their non-uniform counterparts. No student is interested in learning when they are not comfortable in their own second skin.

Uniforms can get expensive. Some experts claim that uniforms eliminate the need to purchase expensive, name-brand clothing to boast a child’s popularity; yet school uniforms do not come with the cheapest price tag, and you’re going to need multiples to get through the week. Students that are forced in uniform are also going to want “normal” clothes to embrace individuality outside of school. Two different wardrobes can exhaust a parent’s wallet.

The next time you jump to the side of school uniforms, consider the negative impact a uniform has on your child. Your child’s academic performance is just as much based on their happiness as it is adhering to strict and seemingly necessary rules.

If you’re the type that doesn’t care what logo is on your shirt and will wash it with your car washing towel, then you probably don’t spend over $10 on them. On the flip side, if your shirt has a little horse and rider, alligator, or gold emblemed alphabets and you frequent the dry cleaner, then you are more of a fashion extremist and probably spend 20% of your bi-monthly checks on clothing.

The SurveyMagnet team wants to know how you feel about your style of dress. It’s ok to comment and tell us. We won’t laugh………to your face at least

Every since I can remember, it has been like the 11th commandment to not wear white after Labor Day. But no one ever told me why. I mean it’s just a color. I wear all the other colors after Labor Day. What makes white so bad?

So I decided to do a little research and see where this originated.

There are several theories about the the rule which governs people who wear white after Labor Day. The first and most sensible is that it reminded people not to wear summer weight clothing during the Winter. It may be tempting to don a pair of light pumps in the crisp weather of early fall, but changing weather can make it an unwise decision. By not wearing white shoes after Labor Day, people can ensure that they don’t end up with soiled, cold shoes. It is also conceivable that the the rule not to wear white after Labor Day was adopted as part of a larger movement to “educate” the nouveau riche. Older society families were concerned about the fashion etiquette of more recent additions, and established a complex code of fashion rules to guide them.

With an origin of such dating back to the 1950s and 60s, I even further support the notion of disbanding something as silly as not wearing a color after a certain day of the year.

What do you think. Are you man/woman enough to wear your white?

I’m supremely upset with myself for missing out on the “Booty Pop” epidemic. Apparently, women are buying panties that lift their butt and fill out their pants.
Watching the video does more than my words ever could.
After you stop laughing at the commercial do me a favor and answer the question:
