Traditionally, men have always been the big bread winners, but moving forward to the 21st century, that is almost not the case. Women are very successful and wealthy these days. A quick look at a Forbes list of rich women will turn up some women responsible for some of your popular attention getters.
Well, imagine dating or even being married to one of these powerful women. I’ll share a story with you that a buddy of mine experienced. He went out on a first date with a young lady. Very nice looking young lady. Lawyer and graduate of North Carolina Central University (one of the best law schools in the country from what I hear). She had no trouble finding a great job right out of college and is easily topping the $160K salary range in the Atlanta market. No kids or dependents and a 5 bedroom home that she shares with only her dog.
On their first night out, she picked my buddy up in her Mercedes CL600 coupe. She apologized for having a wardrobe malfunction and needed to run to Lenox Mall to get something. Upon arriving, they went to the Louis Vuitton store to get a handbag. It only cost $1600. And of course the color didn’t quite match so she stopped by some women’s shoe store to get some shoes that were only $400. They left the mall headed to a spot of his choice: Olive Garden.
So just to recap:
- He’s out with a woman with her own 5 bedroom house
- Prior to the date, she went and bought a $1600 handbag
- Followed that up by buying a $400 pair of shoes
- He’s about to take her to Olive Garden
I was laughing out of control by this point. According to him, the night turned out fine. After dinner, they went to a rooftop lounge for a drink and back to her place to watch some television and talk. But he explained that his butterflies intensified as he learned more and more about her. Finally, he told me he thought she was out of his league. And that drives me crazy to hear men say that.
But let’s hear your thoughts on the matter…
