I’m sure many of you know the story of the United States. Amerigo Vespucci or Christopher Columbus or John Cabot or Lief Ericson or the Chinese or some Irish monks (depending on which school you attended) came, discovered some land that some indians lived on. Chased them off and viola – new land and country for their people.
Now here we are in 2011 living in harmony. But there are those that feel as though our harmony is being threatened by the outsiders. The outsiders are illegal immigrants. When I hear the term illegal immigrant, I honestly think of someone from Mexico. Many of our politicians feel the same way.
But one has to wonder, how does a melting pot like the U.S. actually have “illegal immigrants”? One of the oldest cities in the U.S., New York City is home to almost every nationality in the world. Even more so, this country was built on the backs of these individuals. So who’s an immigrant?
