Judging Based Upon Physical Appearance

3 Comments 27 July 2011

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase…

Don’t judge a book by its cover

Every time you leave home and travel to work, the mall, on vacation, the restaurant, or walk down the street, ride in the elevator or go on a job interview – you’re judged.  People are judging you based upon your appearance and there’s nothing you can do about it.  We (humans) are judgmental and curious at the same time.  We want to decipher who’s clean, who’s dirty, who’s smart, who’s dumb, who’s going to rob me, who’s going to run from me.  However, the curious side leads us to want to know more about certain items and people.  “She looks good, hmmm….”, “He drives a nice car, he must make good money…”.

Without thought or consciousness, this occurs.  But is it right.  Think about how you selected your spouse or friend.  You possibly judged them prior to approaching them.  Your friends were judgmental based decisions.  Cold-hearted, selfish, and unfair – yes, you.

Is it right to judge people based on their cleanliness or physical appearance?
