Dr. Boyce Wakins, a respected “public intellectual”, went on a tirade following last week’s BET awards.    In an article printed at news one Watkins fires stinging darts at BET and Lil’ Wayne.  According to the article they are lumped together because Lil’ Wayne received the most award nominations.

Watkins argument is easy to understand.  He cites lyrics in which Wayne advocates killing little babies, having sex with every girl in the world, carrying a gun on his hip, and leaving a ni**as brains on the street.  Those messages are awful and the best spin doctor in the world would have trouble making me think otherwise.

Watkins also sites a few other interesting points.  Black men are more likely to die of gun violence, drug addiction runs rampant in the black community, and HIV is the leading killer of black women.  According to the good doctor all of this is directly correlated to black music.  Since black music is promoted by BET Dr. Watkins has decided that BET is the new KKK.
