Do the Employed quit looking

If I were unemployed, I would search for a job day in and day out.  But I can somewhat empathize with the job seekers.  Looking and applying to tens or hundreds of jobs a day can wear on you, if you break you down completely.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job seekers in 2007 remained unemployed for around 5 weeks.  At the end of 2010, that statistic was 10 weeks.  Imagine looking for a job, any job for almost three months.  Is that too much for some?  Are people throwing in the towel and just saying the heck with it – “Government, support me.”

Do the unemployed eventually give up on their job search?
