Not even two years ago, there were commercials in reference to the best cell phone company and plans that included AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Alltel. Now in 2011, we’re looking at having 3 major companies: Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint.
No one went out of business. The big guys bought out the little guys. Verizon grabbed up Alltel Wireless, and AT&T is working out a deal to acquire T-Mobile. Verizon’s deal catapulted them to the top. AT&T will grab the #1 spot when its $39 Billion deal is done.
It would be somewhat of an oversight to say we don’t see where this is going. We’re definitely heading to a market that has 2 or 3 companies. We’re bound to have higher plans and stringent contracts. A recent poll showed that a good portion of AT&T users were displeased with their service, but wouldn’t leave because of their exit fees.
