Would You Buy Fertility Drugs Online?

Today’s article is a guest post from Tania Tod. Tania is affiliated with Trying-to-conceive.com where they are passionate about all topics related to the female body, trying to conceive, pregnancy signs, pregnancy, and birth.

Clomid is the most popular and effective fertility drug on the market today. Though the internet enabled everyone who has ever wondered if they could, perhaps, have fertility problems to know about this drug in more recent years, it has actually been around since the late 1950s. Clomid is often the first fertility treatment couples will try. Clomid is very effective at inducing ovulation, and can regulate luteal phase defects where the menstrual cycle does not function normally, thereby preventing pregnancy.

Millions of women who do not ovulate naturally, have a luteal phase that is too short, have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), or unexplaned infertility have benefited from the drug Clomid, and will continue to do so in the future. It is all too easy to conclude that you might benefit from this drug, generically known as clomiphene, too if you have trouble conceiving. And anyone who has ever looked for Clomid through Google or other search engines knows that it is rather easy too buy online – and not too expensive, either.

Quite a few women who are hoping to get pregnant and have watched many months go by without getting a positive pregnancy test wonder what is wrong with them, and if they could be infertile. I have been there too – and after two miscarriages I thought I would never have a baby. That is an awful feeling.

Few women start their journey of trying to conceive thinking that they will not get pregnant within six months to a year, which doctors say is normal. Of course, while pregnant women complain about morning sickness, extreme fatigue, and insomnia, all you want is to deal with all those pregnancy signs! If only you just could get pregnant, everything else would be alright.

Whether you have not succeeded in getting pregnant and think Clomid might help you, or have already been to the doctor and have discussed fertility drugs with medical professionals, buying Clomid through online pharmacies is appealing to a large group of women. Clomid can be easier to obtain and much cheaper when it’s bought on the internet. But make no mistake, buying any serious medication online brings significant dangers.

Before you hit that button and add Clomid to your cart, ask yourself some questions. Clomiphene use can be accompanied by serious side effects. Many of those who were prescribed this drug experience nausea, hot flashes, mood swings, cramping, and bleeding. But ovarian cysts, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, and even ovarian cancer are also among the rare negative side effects that Clomid can cause. The risk of such side effects is enough reason why the use of Clomid should always be monitored closely by medical professionals, and why you should never go it alone.

Dosage is another problem. While the drug is extremely effective and 40 to 80 percent get pregnant while on Clomid, it can never be used for long periods of time and only in the right doses. Do you really want to be responsible for tinking with those things yourself, without the watchful and professional eye of your doctor?

The reasons why powerful medications should only ever be used with a prescription and under the care of competent medical professionals are many, but one is perhaps even more compelling than all others. Those who were prescribed Clomid and get it through the proper channels do not have to give the authenticity of their fertility drugs a second thought. But how about shady online pharmacies? How will you ever know for sure whether the drug you ordered, presumably with the intention of taking it, it actually what you think it is? And who will care for you if you develop serious complications?

Internet shopping is so wonderful, and so convenient, for so many things. Many items can be found for much cheaper and ordering what you need online is often a sound and responsible financial decision. Not so with fertility drugs though. Buying Clomid online really bears more similarities to playing Russian roulette than I am personally comfortable with.
