Does eye for an eye justice work?

18 Comments 13 January 2011

I have several times questioned our judicial system and how at times it works and other times it does not.  I see no explanation behind how some crimes are enforced with a hand slap and the same crime for others ends in a third of their life taken from them.

The Middle East has always had a unique judicial system in that they believe in the eye for an eye system.  Meaning, whatever you do to a victim, is done to you in punishment.  Not so bad, huh.  You take my TV, I get yours.  You destroy my car.  I get your car.  You cut my hand, you get your hand cut.

But recently, a higher body had to intervene on the ruling of a Saudi judge who ruled for a criminal who caused his victim paralysis and loss of a foot to be paralyzed as well.  Check it out here.

Question of the day:

Should we implement an eye for an eye judicial system?
