Apple reopened a can of worms in 2010 with its iPad. Why reopen…because the tablet concept has been around for years. Be that as it may, tablet sales are set for the roof and everyone wants a piece of the pie. According to marketwatch.com, tablet sales were ~19.5 million in 2010 and destined to hit just under 55 million in 2011. By 2014, an estimated 208 million units of tablets will be in use. That’s a mind blowing number for a country with ~310 million people.
Apple is dubbed with spearheading the frenzy, but players such as Dell, Cisco, and even Hewlett-Packard have planned to enter the tablet race. This increase in tablet use will likely hurt the mini-notebook, e-reader, gaming devices, media player and smart phone market.
Alright techies, let’s hear it.
