When I was in a relationship my girlfriend received a nice Christmas gift every year.  I never had a predetermined dollar amount to spend on a gift.  I just bought whatever she liked or I felt that she wanted.  Gifts ranged from high end watches to the latest perfumes.

However, many don’t share my same thought process.  I had a buddy in college that kept a girlfriend all year until December.  He always broke it off with his soulmates around Thanksgiving.  I thought he was falling victim to unfortunate circumstance until someone hinted that he was breaking up with those girls to avoid having to buy them a Christmas gift.
