A New York Times survey found that 10% of the nation’s inmates are serving life sentences. You would think that specific guidelines exist for such a severe punishment. Nothing could be further from the truth. People are serving life sentences for human trafficking, drug trafficking, treason, rape, robbery, arson and a whole slew of offenses.
Things should be more specific than they are when it comes to this sentence. What offenses do you think should warrant a life sentence?
