Auto-producers competition?

6 Comments 18 November 2010

While riding down the road last week, I stopped at a red light.  A few cars pulled up on the side of me.  On one side I noticed a nice new Mercedes that appeared to have the works.  I could see  a GPS and integrated touch screen radio system along with a very nice two tone interior and  nice wheels.

On the other side, I noticed a late model Honda Accord.  The more I looked, the more I noticed this Honda was very nice as well.  It had a lit up dash as well and tv screens throughout.  The interior was a nice two tone with trim.  It had lights all the way around that resembled an Acura.  The wheel package was nice and obviously not of factory design.  The paint job gave the car the appearance of being soaking wet.

I couldn’t help but think that Wow, the after market features for cars are equal to if not better than the new model cars.  Even when I purchased my last vehicle, I gave up the factory option to add an in-dash screen, but had one added about 3 months later and it functions just as the factory one would have minus $1500.

Guess you could consider it to be a case of which came first.

Have after market producers made the auto-producers step their game up?
