Was Barack elected because he is Black?

November 2008.  Many people celebrated, rejoiced, drank, fired weapons, and popped fireworks.  Why?  A 47 year old Illinois Senator from Chicago made history.  He became the first Black President of the United States.

Some say he shouldn’t claim the “Black” title because he is part Hawaiian.   Several interviews at the polls captured voters saying they were voting for Barack Obama merely because he was black.  Is that the case?  Say it ain’t so!

The voter turnout in 2008 for the state of Florida was 42%.  I very low number but more than twice as high as the previous two years, and the highest in the past 20 years.  The state of California broke a record for voter turnout with 13.7 million voters or 79.4% of the registered voters hitting the polls.    It is believed that voters from these states made a point to get out and vote since there was a minority running.

So what do you think?  How did Barack get in the White House?

Barack Obama was only elected because he was black.
