There have been several outstanding coaches during the history of the NBA.  Plenty of coaches can stake a claim at being the best.  However, 3 of them stand out.

They are:

Red Auerbach – 938 W/479 L, 9 world championships, voted “Best Coach in NBA History” by the PBWAA in 1980.

Pat Riley  - 1210 W/ 694 L, 5 world championships, mastermind behind Lebron/D.Wade/C.Bosh fiasco

Phil Jackson – 1098 W/ 460L, 11 world championships, Zen Master
