Growing up, mom and dad both had respective duties. Each could perform one another’s tasks, but normally it never happened.
Mom was responsible for:
- Cooking
- Cleaning the interior of the house
- Aiding the kids with school work
- Picking kids up from school activities
- Shopping
Dad was responsible for:
- Outdoor cleaning
- Yard maintenance
- Vehicle maintenance
- Mortgage and Utilities
- Major Financial Decisions
Mom was the more authoritative one.
Mom upheld the rules, as Dad allowed flexibility.
This was just my experience and may not necessarily be yours. However, it worked well for my family. Would you say some duties are specific to gender in the household? Do you expect your man to pay all the bills?Do you expect your lady to have a hot plate ready when you walk through the door?
