I’m sure this will be an age old question for quite some time.  Centers will come and go and I’m sure they will all shoot, dunk, miss free throws, and block a lot of shots.  But will the Shaq diesel stand as the greatest to have ever played the position.

After 17 seasons, Shaq averaged 25.2 points, 58.1 FG%, 11.5 rebounds, 2.4 blocks, 2.7 assists, and .6 steals.  Quite an impressive resume, but I would have to compare him to the first giant slayer that knocked Shaq out of NBA Championship dream, and his name was “The Dream”.  In my eyes, Hakeem exhibited the traits of a true center playing his position with more finesse and power than anyone had ever imagined.  He not only managed to beat Shaq in a best of 7 series, but managed to sweep him 4-0.

So in my eyes, Shaq is not the best center.  He’s just a big boy with big shoes and bullies his way around the court.  Being big doesn’t just make you the best.  But I’m only one….how do you feel?
