Have offensive changes ruined pro football?

In the past decade, the offensive rules in an NFL game have changed noticeably.  It is almost to a point where defenders would be fined for looking at the quarterback too hard.  Many argue that these rule changes are only making the game far worse than before.  When Troy Polamalu spoke up in reference to shots at his hits as being too hard, attention was really drawn to the subject.

Think about this though.   You and I enjoy NFL games because there are two teams led by two star quarterbacks that lead their teams up and down the fields.  They pick up first downs, throw the long passes, occasionally run for touchdowns and of course throw the touchdowns.  Well, if these teams lost these star quarterbacks, the team loses more and the fan base loses interest.

Key example: Michael Vick during his Atlanta Falcons prime filled the seats weekly.  After his unfortunate departure, there were more empty seats than a northern church.  Don’t believe me….think about the two recent Super Bowl teams: Colts and Saints.  Each had a dynamic and explosive quarterback.  Each team lacked a star running back or “great” receiver.  The quarterbacks were the game.

If you feel otherwise, please let me know…..
