Why do foreign countries hate the U.S. so?

Unfortunately, many countries believe just as George does.  That the U.S. starts wars, kills people, and basketball is no longer our sport to dominate.  I have to admit that we are very proactive when it comes to fighting wars in other countries.  Not to mention we are determined to police deadly weapons of mass destruction in other countries.

Is this it?  Is this the only reason the U.S. is so hated?

Why do foreign countries hate the United States so much?

Sure, I’ve been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I’m not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren’t as good. That used to be called patriotism.

I don’t believe all foreign countries hate the US, just maybe the predominately Muslim ones. This is only because we are over there blowing up their mud huts and killing innocent people. We would hate people who came to our country and killed our citizens too.

Everywhere I’ve gone I’ve never been treated differently because I’m American and I am curious to go to France to see if they really are as uppity as I’ve heard. Americans, I think, are typically well liked around the world.

Fear or hatred of foreigners is not patriotism and never was, I think you are thinking of ignorance or prejudice.

Could it be because we see everyone overseas as living in a mud hut?

America is the biggest kid in the school yard. We’re the big muscular sports star and others will either love us for it and call us allies or hate us for it and call us enemies.

I have traveled extensively outside of the US and I really have never gotten the “We hate America/Americans” vibe. I have family members who are foreigners and their take on it is not that they dislike America as a country but they sometimes disagree with the way that American culture is basically pushed down their throats forcing out their own traditions/cultures. This can sometimes cause animosity.

The French are uppity because they are French, not because you are American. The French people are different. I maintain they are just pissed off because their “City of Lights” smells like a giant urinal.

Do we force our culture on them (besides democracy)? I don’t believe we do that, I think we influence other nations to want to be prosperous. Could you elaborate on this?

Our language, our cuisine, our fashion, our music, are marketing strategies, our sense of “tradition” etc.

The act is even described in one word: McWorld. Benjamin Barber wrote an excellent book on it.

Fast food is for peon plebeians, I dine on steak fries or “chips” as the Brits say.

America is full of diversity. I don’t think it was forced on your relatives, but overwhelming to them.

  16. Wenchypoo says:

Answer: they don’t hate US per se, but they hate our leaders who make asinine decisions, policies, and/or threats…or what is PERCEIVED as asinine. They also hate the fact that we vote many of them into power, so it doesn’t reflect well on us.

Let’s face it–we have a lot of deadwood in leadership roles that haven’t shed their old, puritanical Cold War thinking, and haven’t caught up to the notion of a GLOBAL world. Global worlds require global thinking, but these people are stuck in protectionist and world-superiority mode from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s.

  17. Johnny says:

The foreign nations who “hate” the U.S. do so primarily out of envy & jealousy.

Now, clearly, America having more “allies” throughout the world is in the best interests of the U.S.. But, Americas main / top allies are this. — Israel, Great Britain & the VERY GREAT Caribbean & Latin American Rightwing Paramilitary organizations.

And these are our black African allies. — UNITA & FNLA organizations of Angola (As well as their supporters), Renamo organization of Mozambique (As well as their supporters), supporters of Sani Abacha in Nigeria, supporters of Samuel Doe in Liberia, supporters of Joseph Mobutu in the Democratic Republic of the Congol, rebels in Chad (As well as their supporters), rebels in Eritrea (As well as their supporters).

And our Asian allies. —- Asian nations such as South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines & Japan are VERY staunch allies of America, Israel & the “West”. In addition, there are MANY organizations within each & every one of these respective nations which are Rightwing, Zionist &/or pro-Zionist. And they are all allies of America, Israel & the West. And here’s just one such example. —-For many, many decades, the “World Anti-communist League” was based in Taiwan.

Israel, Great Britain & all of these respective organizations are Americas main / top allies throughout the world. Pretty much the rest of the world is just “gravy”.
