3G was the super cell phone network technology the rest of the world was bragging about ages ago. It seems the US just walked into a party thats just about dead.

I did not the improvements from edge to 3g though. So happy I was.

I never really knew the benefits of it until today. Before reading this post I assumed it was just a faster network. I don't have much use for dual functionality in a phone (i.e. talk and browse) so I'm going to say its a bunch of fuss for nothing.

3G is like when DSL came out and folks were jumping ship from dial up.

The ability to talk and surf is a very valuable feature if you are using your phone as a modem and someone happens to call. If not for that feature the added speed of downloads is well worth it.

Too bad the rest of the world will be on 4G before we have a good 3G network here in the US.

I think when 3G first came out, it was really never relayed to the public exactly what was the overall benefit or enhancement of the service. I know several people that rushed back to the stores to exchange that iphone for the "new" 3G iphone and none of them could tell me why they were getting it.
