Is there a such thing as being too old to have children?  Every day a woman over the age of 40 becomes a mother.  Several celebs also share in this statistic.

  • Cherie Booth – baby at age 45
  • Jane Seymour – twins at age 44
  • Susan Sarandon – baby at age 46
  • Madonna – baby at age 41
  • Iman – baby at age 44
  • Jerry Hall – baby at age 41
  • Beverly D’Angelo – twins at age 49
  • Courtney Cox – baby at age 39
  • Helen Hunt – baby at age 40
  • Halle Berry – baby at age 41

Although seemingly a simple question, once you actually analyze the factors you have to wonder: What would make a mother too old? and What rules and guidelines would support determining if a woman’s body can sustain child birth?

Many gynecologists refer to pregnancy after age 35 as a high risk pregnancy.  Numerous problems increase for woman over this age in pregnancy.  Another factor to consider is that after having the baby, women will need much energy to keep up with a growing toddler.

How about you?  Do you and yours plan to populate the earth well into your 40s?

    When they’re old and haggardly.

Not everyone gets married at 28, and couples should enjoy some time together before popping out kids. Why do people look down on old people having babies? Now soon has you hit fifty it’s time to close shop.

Medically speaking, 35 is the cutoff for having children SAFELY (this means out of danger of autism, Down’s Syndrome, and other birth defects). The older the sperm and egg are, the more cellular degradation they have, and the more that degradation will be passed onto children in the form of birth defects.

Yes, I know countless women have barged past that age, but how many of those kids are truly 100% healthy and normal?

You want kids in later life, I suggest you freeze sperm and egg for later use–that way, the sperm and egg are preserved in their youth, and birth defects are less likely to occur. You could also adopt.

I would say 35+ just for health reasons to not only the child but also the mother.

How much does it cost to freeze those babies? I’m going to need to build up a surplus, so I can get my vasectomy.

I say 35 just because its the medical status quo. I think people should live full lives before bringing new homo sapiens to the planet.

I would freeze my sperm, but I don’t think those services are available to the common man.

I believe that around 30-35. You don’t want to be too old. It will be hard to interact with your kids when you don’t have the energy and patience.

I think patience is something you gain with age so it might be better to have kids later…

Ever see g-parents going nuts at g-kids? Nope

Grandparents get rid of those kids at the end of the day.

I believe that it is up to the individual. Older mothers like Halle Berry, Jane Seymour obviously take very good care of themselves. The medical age is 35 but whose to say that you have settled your life down by then. You should have children when you are ready to have them so that they don’t get the short end of the stick. In the end, they won’t care how you look or how fast you run.

Nature makes it hard for people to have kids past 30 for a reason. Why are we messing up a good thing?

Why the fuck would you ruin your 20’s by having a kid?
