December 31, 2009 marked more than the end of a joyous year. Unfortunately, it also marked the end of Tiger Wood’s second major endorsement. AT&T joined Accenture in dropping Tiger Woods today.
Tiger was never displayed in many commercials, but he sported the AT&T logo on his golf bag. Tiger was also the host of the AT&T National PGA Tour event. The Tiger Woods Foundation is the beneficiary of the event and cannot be severed because of a contractual agreement through 2014.
Tiger’s annual 100 million salary does not come entirely from the golf game, but from the many endorsements he has. Since his Thanksgiving Day accident and admission of extramarital affairs many companies (Gillette, Tag Huer, and Electronic Arts) have ceased displaying Woods commercials and advertisements. Others like Accenture and now AT&T are pulling all together.
It seems that Tiger’s millions are going to gradually slip away with each company….What do you think….
