Football has a lot to offer. What I mean by that is it teaches kids about working as a team and can also teach leadership as well as discipline.

You all are forgetting this is a school first, I'm pretty sure all sports revenue goes to sports programs.

If players get proceeds, it should be from the gate and not the school. But then college football will end up like pro baseball with who ever makes the most will win…sounds like a lose/lose to me.

College athletes should definitely get paid. They bring in more money than any "scholarship" will ever pay for. I can't think of another business in which a person is responsible for generating $17MM and they receive no income.

Emcee: Why don’t we pay the high school athletes too, they bring revenue to their respective schools.

I agree to some extent, it may seem as if the passion in pro sports is down when compared to college sports.But a lot of fans would tend to disagree with you.

I do not think the high school system generates as much as a college system. The minimal funds that are generated are normally consumed by some fake project (i.e. field restoration project, seating remodel).

I agree, but I just think that the kids need some allowance or something since their sports consumed schedule does not allow them the leisure activities that other students get.

Do you get paid. In scholarships. They also get free gifts when they go to a bowl game.

I had a friend in college who played basketball. On days where I went to my part time job, he went to practice. On the weekend, I had money to shop, hang out, etc. He was at the whim of what his parents sent him.

So yes, they should receive a form of pay but not as a paycheck per se, but an allowance. Something to aid them in normal student activities.

I was offered a partial scholarship to run track. My mom said decline it, because they will not expect you to run part of the time.
