Should Abortion be Legal?

abortion-punishment

In every incident that doesn’t involve rape abortion is an act of cowardice, convenience, or a twisted marriage of the 2.  It is a cop out in every way imaginable.

Here are some shocking stats taken from Abort73.com:

  • The abortion ratio for unmarried women is 510 abortions for every 1,000 live births.
  • 50% of U.S. women obtaining abortions are younger than 25; women aged 20-24 obtain 33% of all U.S. abortions and teenagers obtain 17% (AGI).
  • 47% of women who have abortions had at least one previous abortion (AGI
  • 3/4 of women involved in abortions say that having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities

I was born to a relatively young mother who persevered and moved on to have a great life.  She didn’t take the easy road out and neither should anyone else with the wherewithal to have sex.

I don’t want to sway you too much so I’ll see you in the ring…I mean comments section below.

I didn’t even read the explanation before I voted yes.

After reading, you still haven’t changed my stance. I’ll be wearing the blue shorts in the ring…

Abortion is a cop out plain and simple. If you can lay down and have sex you can support the baby. Nobody slurped you through a tube so why would you do it to someone else?

  4. Burmonster says:

Why should anyone have any say over what someone else does with their body? If you think abortion is immortal, then don’t do it. Your morality is not universal.

Someone else? Do you thing the slurped up entity is a person? I sure as hell don’t. I wasn’t slurped through a tube b/c my parents wanted a child. Plain and simple. No, having sex does not mean you can support a baby. There is no monetary or emotional stipulation to having sex. Both of those are necessary to raise a child correctly. The last thing I want is a bunch of welfare cases running around sucking up tax dollars needed elsewhere.

  6. Derrick says:

No – it should not be legal. People are always looking for the easy way out. There are numerous methods of contraception, not to mention abstinence dissolves this entire conversation.

True, there are no monetary stipulations to having sex, but the stipulation of having sex is possibility of child birth. And if you’re old enough to know that, then you should be old enough to know that you are taking a chance on tying up the next 18 years of your life.

My statement has been provided by Burmonster.

I can’t say it’s a cop out, just because you turned out well Marcus doesn’t mean all cases will. I do not think a child should be brought into the world if the parents cannot take care of him/her. Yes they should have been more responsible in the beginning.

  8. BigAl says:

If they’re too irresponsible to use contraceptives, do you really think they are responsible enough to raise a child?

  9. Derrick says:

Why don’t we just spade and neuter New Orleans and the hoods.

Derrick: Why don’t we just spade and neuter New Orleans and the hoods.

Now we’re getting somewhere. I’d prefer a mass genocide, but I’ll settle for genital mutilation.

  11. Latoya says:

Yes, it should be legal thus spoken from the viewpoint of a teacher/school counselor. Has anyone considered the cases of rape, sexual assault, and incest? Women that are victims of such heinous crimes should not be further victimized by having to carry a child that they were forcefully impregnated with. I do not condone abortion, but I agree with those that say a woman is well within her right to have one. Why bring another child into the world that will be neglected financially, mentally, and emotionally? When these things occur, it affects the child for the rest of his/her life.

My morality should be universal. The world would be a better place.

The entity is a person. Don’t tell me you that you are one of those people that think you’re not a person until you can spell your name in cursive.

If you look at the article 3/4 of the women who have abortions have them out of convenience. That is laziness and irresponsibility…not welfare.

  14. Tajhma says:

I don’t think that abortion should be legal either. It is time for people to be responsible and accountable. If you don’t think that you would want to have a child with the person that you are havving sex with then you should rethink having sex with them. I understand that there are cases of incest and rape. However, they have so many things out there now to assist with preventing pregnancy in those type of situations. The day after pill, etc. Most of the abortions that are taking place are being used as a form of birth control and it is not right. Not to mention that most of the young women completing them are not educated on it and have no idea of what they are doing to their bodies. They are going to these clinics and not being educated on the process and its side effects. It is time to be responsible and accountable for your actions.

  15. MAhren says:

The repeat abortions are what bothers me(47%). People should have the right to their own bodies but not to the extent of using abortion instead of contraceptives.

  16. Derrick says:

MAhren: The repeat abortions are what bothers me(47%).People should have the right to their own bodies but not to the extent of using abortion instead of contraceptives.

Good point. First time, shame on you. Second time, shame on us.

  17. Wenchypoo says:

    IT ALREADY IS LEGAL, GANG.

With today’s plethora of birth control available, abortion shouldn’t be necessary…but then, you have the uncontrolled and uncontrollable situations, such as rape, incest, and/or just plain ignorance.

Money isn’t always an issue, because JUST SAYING NO is free.
