Two things immediately come to mind whenever I hear the words “victimless crime”:
- Drug usage
- Consensual prostitution
Before you swallow my head allow me to explain.
Drug Usage
Never once in my life have I felt the need to smoke pot, sniff crack, or pop a pill made in someone’s apartment. If it is not cleared by the FDA I will not partake. My first encounter with a marijuana blunt was enough to shatter my dreams. I watched a friend go through the entire process of rolling a marijuana blunt:
- Open a cigar and empty the contents
- Reach under his bed and grab a translucent micro-bag of Mary Jane
- Fill empty cigar with Mary Jane
- Lick and spit all over cigar
- Roll it tight
- Light it up
- Puff, puff, pass
If a may borrow a word from a 3 year old girl that I know…YUCK (or pa-tooey if you prefer). In any event, that one encounter was enough to turn me away from drugs.
I was grossed out beyond repair, but he and his partner were having fun. No one got hurt that night (or left his bedroom for that matter).
Consensual Prostitution
I never thought I’d be as comfortable with prostitution as I am. I loosened up on the subject after a friend of mine started using their services. After a little soul searching I understand his standpoint. We live in a sex crazed society in which supply rarely meets demand. Sex is purchased in some shape, form, or fashion anyway. So why not just get it over with quickly?
People get high and pay for sex every second of every day. If no one is harmed in the process, should we really use our resources to charge them with crimes?

I couldn’t care any less about what people do when it doesn’t affect me or my pursuit of happiness. All that being said, I think it should be illegal to rive while under the influence of a drug. Don’t give me that “weed makes you a better driver” bullshit. You’re in an altered state and unfit to drive.
If it’s not hurting me, they can keep on keeping on.
I have always thought that we have placed too much time, dollars and resources into such crimes. There is so much more than we can spend our tax dollars on.
Like corporate bailouts!!!
Let them be as long as they do not bother the masses. Why not make both drugs and prostitution legal and tax them both, I know we do not need more government but we definitely could use the tax revenue.
The world is coming to a screeching halt. The three of you agree? WHAT??
I figured one of you would flip out about prostitution.
Fail troll…
That has always been why they refuse to legalize both. Think about it, if sex and drugs became legal and they sold them at your local corner mart, but Pookie still got the fattest dime bags and Pinky still got the bad hoes on 7th Ave, why would you pay Akbar at the corner mart? You wouldn’t. Thus it can’t be taxed.
I cant think of the last time I bought cigs from Reginald or whiskey from Philip, but people do make their own cigs and whiskey. The point is if you legalize it, there will be people wishing to capitalize on that fact. If you want to start a huge growing business, you’ll pay property tax, just like they do to grow tobacco. You’ll never eliminate the little guys in their basement, but you will have the big guys in there to make profit and you will tax them.
Prostitution isn’t legal because it goes against the good ole book (not because they can’t tax it).
Marijuana will be legal in the next 15 years. Just you wait fella.
Our government isn’t based on the good ole book, remember?
Its not supposed to be, that doesn’t mean it isnt.
Correct, the truly religious folk won’t let hooking be legal for the masses.
The way I look at it, if you don’t like it don’t do it but don’t push your ideas on to everyone who doesn’t believe what you do.
