News came out today that the coach with the highest win percentage of active coaches, Urban Meyer, will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from coaching the Florida Gator football squad. He will coach the Gators against the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Sugar Bowl. ESPN Story
But what brought on this awkward decision? Urban Meyer spent his first loss in the past two years in the hospital with tears and chest pains. Is Urban Meyer going through some major health issues that he wishes to keep on the hush hush or was the 22-game win streak that was snapped by the mighty Tide really that traumatic?
I would say that Urban is realizing that the Tebow magic is about to be over and it is all downhill from here. Aspirations of quitting ahead were thieved by Alabama, and to decrease the blow, he is relinquishing the reigns now and letting someone else have the mess that is left in Gainesville.
But that is just me…What do you think…..

My new in-law family (Gator Fans) thinks that since Tebow is leaving he’s dipping out while he’s ahead.
In the statement he released, he mentioned something about “faith and family”, this vague statement leads me to believe he was banging the water girl.
All to go with the Alabama shellacking, it’s was too much.
Seriously, the guy is a football genius.
*He put the UTAH UTES on the map.
*He made Alex Smith into a #1 draft pick.
*He made Tim Tebow look like a collegiate Steve Young.
*His system put a beat down on Alabama in their bowl game last year.
*He has won several championships at the University of Florida.
No doubt the guy is good, but sometimes your talent (the team) outshines you or worse your talent makes you look better than you really are.
Look at Spurrier at SC, if he was coaching UF’s team we’d be congratulating him on 2 more championships.
If the guy is not doing well medically, he has every right to take his time or step down. I am an avid college football fan but I even understand that it is a game and not worth dieing over and not spending time with your family.
I was actually waiting on this. Meyer has been living this fairy tale with the magical Tim Tebow whom no NFL team is drooling over for long enough. Now that Tebow is about to leave, what better time to consider your health. If your health was really that big of an issue, you would have already given the game up.
I wouldn’t say beating up on teams like Air Force and Wyoming “crank” your map status. If it does, I wouldn’t brag.
