STDs have never been more rampant than they are today. In the “sex now ask questions later” world of today it is unlikely that STDs will ever go away. The benefits of being tested are abundantly clear, yet so few people get tested.
Those that are tested and get the “bad” news, have guidelines for the remainder of their lives. One of those is to always inform any future partner of their known misfortune. However, this does not always happen.
So what should happen to a person who knowingly hands out an STD? In instances dealing with HIV/AIDS, you have knowingly dealt the death card. You haven’t shot or stabbed anyone, but you have handed them a loaded shotgun.
Should this be a crime?
Is it attempted murder?

Yes, it should be a crime. Knowingly committing an act that has a high probability of harming a third party to the point of death is negligent homicide. Courts seem to agree with this idea;

Passing aids around should be attempted murder, but herpes should just get your genitals removed. Seems fair…
Instead of removed how about cauterized?
meh. Anything that makes them undesirable and can ostracize them. Perhaps a nice big “VD” patch sewn onto their clothes.

LOL, it depends on the STD I say. I personally would want to kill the person giving me either of them, but eh, I wanted to kill the guy that brought chickenpox to school in kindergarten.
However, I’d hate to start stitching VD on people. Next thing you know we’ll burn all of the VD wearers alive. Just like Jews who people believed were putting bubonic plague in wells. Whole villages of jews.
We could send all the VD people to an island….wait I think that has been done before with criminals.
