After dominating daytime television for so long, Oprah Winfrey has decided to step down and venture into other areas. No need to be sad just yet. The show is not airing its final episode until September 9, 2011.
Oprah’s future plans are to focus on her cable television channel with Discovery Communications. Many have asked what led Oprah to this decision. She stated on today’s show
Twenty-five years feels right in my bones and it feels right in my spirit. It’s the perfect number—the exact right time. So I hope that you will take this 18-month ride with me right through to the final show.
Many are questioning who will be the next daytime queen or king? Many mention Ellen who seems to reach out more to the down the earth crowd , or Tyra who seems to touch more viewers than ever before.
Well now that Oprah has retired the crown, who will pick it up….

Dr. Phil is funny. So I vote for him because he makes me chuckle. He can’t take Oprah’s spot because his style is different. Oprah’s show transformed from a regular talk show to a show with unrivaled political and business influence. It will be a long time before someone with a talk show fills that space.
I think it is clearly Ellen. Ellen has been somewhat under apprenticeship to Oprah in the past few years. They have a close relationship. They have posed for magazine covers, partnered charity events and I’m sure Ellen has picked up a few pointers. Maybe Ellen will fore-go this American Idol nonsense now to focus on her show.
I aint watchin no queer dyke on mah TV!
SARAH PALIN!!!!
You beat me to it…
What will she talk about? Girl has the brain capacity of a bottle of hand sanitizer.
I heart Ellen! Altho I love me some Wendy…I think Ellen is gonna have it on lock
Why?
Don’t you dare hate on Sarah!! She is very smart…just misunderstood!!!!
Where did you find that 15 year old pic of Oprah?
And most misunderstand her to be a full blown idiot.
