Have you ever been here?

  • Pipl.com
  • peoplesearch.com
  • intelius.com
  • usa-people-search.com
  • peoplefinders.com
  • whowhere.com

Maybe not.  But sadly enough, anyone with a credit card can access these sites and find out all they need to know about you for around $30 or less.

That’s right, I go to intelius.com, type in your name, city, state or zip and add a little credit card info and I have your social, address, phone number, age, mother’s name, father’s name, your place of employment, email address and possibly your last year’s salary.

A good amount of your personal information is available online for $30. How do you feel about that?

Actually, that 30 dollars is a price of convenience.

All of this information you’re paying for is info you can get for FREE.  Unfortunately, going to get it for free is a bunch of paperwork, headache, and going to multiple locations to make open records requests and getting the information you so desperately desire.  This is the price we all pay for doing any type of business with the government in exchange for comfort.  To be honest, the only way to “go off the map” is to be homeless i.e. get rid of your car and credit cards, quit your job or negotiate with them to pay you only in cash, pull out all of your money, arrange an agreement with your landlord privately where you pay him cash and he doesn’t have you use any paperwork.

;-)  You all might knock the homeless but they have the most freedom in this country.

Damn, I don’t see how to edit comments.  I meant in exchange for comfort.  :-D  My mistake.

I think it is somewhat conflicting that we are all taught to protect our identity and secure your personal info, but any of the above listed sites will give my info to anyone. All boils down to a money game in my opinion.

Paying 30 dollars is way too much to pay for this information. Like miked said if you google (in verb form) hard enough you can dig up anything an if you go to whitepages.com or peoplesearch.com you can find address and a lot more. But as for SSN’s, I do not believe that these are accessible by these sites and if they are maybe I should spend $30 and find mine out.

That scares the sh*t out of me.

What should scare you more is that your social security number was never intended to be a universal identifier for US citizens. Hell, thats why the numbers are so simple. Simple as in first three numbers state, next 2 geographic region and order within the state, and the last 4 is a serial. LMAO, for most of ya’ll after just figuring out where you’re from in conversation I got the first 3 numbers. As you know though, the government has a habit of lying so, eh, don’t be surprised.

So just remember, although it varies by state, any information you give to the state other than information expressly protected by a legislative act is fair game. ;-)

So let me get this straight, someone can really have my SSN for $30? That sounds illegal don’t you have to some relation to someone to request their SSN from the state office? Maybe i’m the dumb one here but being able to do that without going into some state database hacker style seems kinda crazy. If it were just $30 bucks I think we would have all had our identities stolen at least 2 or 3 times already

You seem to be fixated on the $30 number. If it were $250 would it be more believable?

Damn, but to make matters worse, all that stuff you didn’t want people to know about is even available for free.  Like all the nasty child support payments I was ordered to pay thanks to my deadbeat dad status.  I found all of that hear.  http://www.fcclkjudicialsearch.org/

I sure hope you aren’t getting your wages garnished anytime soon if you scared.
