After some research….Bowie was picked 2nd right before Jordan. Of course Hakeem was picked first, if you go high in the draft you better perform and if you go between two of the all-time greats you better at least be notable.

I hate to agree on the strength of who was drafted near but its true. Why would the Trailblazers pick him over Jordan?

Sam Bowie missed 2 seasons of college basketball with a shin injury. Guess what happened in the NBA…THE SAME INJURY CAME BACK.

How many athletes are drafted in the later rounds due to their injuries?

    What makes them overpaid?

While I sort of agree, I don’t think any athlete deserves 20 or 40 million a year. They are on par with movie actors in the sense that they entertain well.

An athletes pay is typically commensurate with his performance and financial impact to a team. You don’t think the main driver behind $8B in revenue should be paid $40MM?

I don’t think that any individual, whose contribution to society is purely entertaining, should be paid that much. It is kind of up there with CEO pay in my opinion.

Well if your team is producing 8B sure, 40M is ok.

What should your contribution to society be in order to make $20 – $40MM?

Creating the cure for aids or cancer.

Are those the only ones? I’d venture to say most people who touch that kind of money aren’t scientists.
