14 is a nice round number. There are worse things a person can get into at that age.

Fact – Alcohol is an adult beverage.
Fact – 14 yr olds are not adults.
Fact – 21 is fine. Leave it alone.

What makes it an adult beverage?

How you gonna fight for your country and vote but can’t have a beer. Gone wit that mess

I think there are worse things in the world than alcohol. There shouldn’t be any age.

  6. Javonne says:

I say 18. If you can smoke cigarettes, vote for Bush, join the army and kill people in other countries…you might need a drink

Alcohol has proven to be harmful to your body. Although it normally exists as the result of abuse, it still exists and few can control the abuse. Not to mention it clearly alters the state of mind. A 14 year old needs to be focusing on school work and preparing for college so you can draw your SSI check, not coming to school drunk with the inability to learn.

Nobody makes you fight for your country at 14.

BigAl: I think there are worse things in the world than alcohol. There shouldn’t be any age.

There are worse things, but alcohol is one that government seems to think they can affect directly so they set a limit.

I could possibly agree with 18 since you are legally grown at this age, but my only questions would be WHY are we moving the age from 21 to 18. What does this country, you, me, the 18 yr old have to gain other than the chance to get drunk, get a DUI and go to jail sooner?

That was a pretty dramatic interpretation of what I asked. You can consume alcohol and not go to school drunk.

You have the physical stature of a 14 year old so this question applies to you. Do you stumble away from the table after every drink or can you manage?

What the heck is that suppose to mean?

So you want to lower the age for big kids????? Or did you get confused and forgot what the subject was? I thought the topic was about legal drinking age…..

  10. Marcus says:

It is about legal drinking age. You seem to concerned with drunk 14 year olds so I made a comparison. Did I hurt your feelings?

  11. Derrick says:

Not at all. I was just concerned about your ability to stick to the subject.

  12. Emcee says:

Derrick: Nobody makes you fight for your country at 14.

What I was getting at was not the age of 14 but the age of 18. I did not state anything about 14, so what made you ASSume that I was speaking about that. Furthermore I mentioned military and voting all of which you can do at 18. So with that said 18 is fine, plus it will give cops less to worry about rather than chasing 18 year old’s when they could be doing more important things.

Also you said “few can control the abuse” that statement, is totally unbacked by any proof and just because people drink does not mean they have no control.

Actually that was the quote from that 90s teenager smoking and confronted by his dad commercial.
