Dwayne Carter aka Lil Wayne aka Million-in-a-week has carried it just a tad too far this time.
In 2007, Lil Wayne was “observed” by cops smoking marijuana on his tour bus (As if all the videos on BET didn’t show enough). Nonetheless, the cops searched Wayne’s bus and found as always, a gun (Did T.I. teach us anything?).
Wayne pleaded guilty today to this charge and has been reported as possibly having to serve a year in jail in New York. This plea deal will hopefully help him avoid the possible 3.5 year sentence. Lil Wayne also has to stand trial in Arizona for felony drug possession and weapons charges of which he pleaded “not guilty”.
Do you think Lil Wayne needs to get ready for the gun line boss?

Why can’t they just register for guns like the rest of Americans? Or is he already a felon?
He’s a pop star (no where near a felon). If he goes he should get the same sentence as anyone else would. I think he’ll get off with community service and some benefit concerts.
I see what Emcee is saying. WHY can’t he just register and/or get a license?
What I was getting at was, has he committed any other crimes prior to this?
There is no firearm registration in most states and that’s the way it should be. Most lists of CCW holders is not public information and it shouldn’t be. Only Class III/NFA weapons require registration and I shouldn’t be that way.
Looks like I attracted the local gun nut. What I was trying to say was “obtain a gun legally,” because having a gun is not illegal. Why couldn’t he do the background check and get a permit?
I’m with you Emcee.
You can take him out of the streets, but you can’t take the streets out of him.
Big Al is right about this firearm registration stuff.
Wayne and the majority of rappers are just idiots. I don’t think the problem was just the gun though. If they had searched the bus and just found the gun and no controlled substances I think he’d have been fine in most states unless he had prior felonies. However, the possession of the controlled substance along with the firearm probably fell under the state’s “Possession of a firearm while committing a felony” which is probably a felony in itself. It sounds crazy but eh, it does exacerbate the severity of the crime.
I hope he serves time. :-)
But what will the masses listen to?
I want to know who is carrying weapons in my neighborhood. Whats the problem with that?
I think it would be better if you knew who the sex offenders were in your neighborhood. In switzerland, you’d know who was carrying weapons in your neighborhood.
As an adult male I’m more concerned about being shot than raped. Why would it be better to have tabs on the sex offenders?
I thought we already had tabs on sex offenders. Em huh, right on your block….yeah, check him out.
But I’m sure you have friends and family that are not adult males. Are you not concerned about them?
The women in my family are well taken care of.
Bet you didn’t know the first sexual assault reported on GT campus was some male on male action. Source: GT Wellness Center coordinator, 1999.
LMAO, knowing all the gun owners in your neighborhood is like knowing all of the drill, hammer, or knife owners in your neighborhood. Potential murder weapon owners. Thats some information I’d rather not have. I just assume everyone I encounter is armed. If that were true in most cases, I don’t think we’d have as many problems as we do.
While I think like you do, “everyone is a potential threat” the masses do not and are paranoid that a gun by itself will kill someone.
How do you sleep if EVERYONE is a threat?
Have you seen the matrix? Neyo had to be trained that the lady in the red dress could be an agent when you turn back around.
I didn’t, but that doesn’t concern me in the slightest.
ARMED and one eye open!
LMAO, I don’t think everyone is a threat. I just know there are people that want to solve their problems in an asocial manner. You never know who those people are until you either witness it or the behavior is directed towards you, in which case, you better shoot first.
Its just like when you’re out for a run and you never know when a coyote or four will come out of the woods snarling at you all because they think you want the deer they just killed. ;-) I find myself having to be aware of coyotes and deer since I live in the suburbs of Atlanta. Then again, because of that and the fact this is Georgia, I think every gun nut should have an S&W .500 in their collection.
Besides, if you had to ask a criminal that breaks into houses for a living what he’d rather be killed with, a gun or a sword, in most cases he’d choose the gun. Quicker death that way.
Shoot first ask questions last.
Pretty much. Unlike social and antisocial encounters, in asocial ones you risk death, maiming, and/or dismemberment because the person coming at you isn’t intent on listening to reason or letting you get away from the situation, but wants to use violence as a tool to have his or her way with you. ;-) You can usually recognize them as asocial encounters when someone has a knife, gun, or other weapon of life destruction pointed at you and/or when you run away, they give chase.
Asking questions when seconds matter is a good way to find other people saying “Damn, my friend got stabbed.”
