So why haven’t we heard of other situations of people, stars, analysts who had the virus and somehow “kicked” the virus.

LOL, because its more common than you think in the western world.

We live in a negative, pessimistic society where we only concentrate on the number of deaths, number of people infected and the like.  If someone is still alive after having contracted HIV 10 years ago, its not all that interesting.  Yet I know a few people that are HIV positive that ever since they start taking all of their antiretrovirals have been around far longer than one would expect.  HIV is NOT a death sentence if you have access to your treatments.

BTW, you’re not kicking the virus, you’re just halting its spread.  Drug dependent remission is NOT the same thing as kicking the virus.  Its just not as dangerous as it once was or could be at the moment.  BTW, whose the last star you know of that has died from AIDS?

Eazy E and Bobby Debarge died back in 95, 4 years after Magic Johnson announced his having HIV.  In fact, their HIV had progressed to AIDS before they even knew they had even been infected with HIV.  Their deaths should be attributed more to ignorance on the status of their infection until it was too late versus a lack of treatment options.  According to wikipedia, Eazy E found out he had AIDS within 10 days of his death date whereas  Bobby Debarge died shortly after his release from prison of AIDS.  In both of the mentioned cases it can be implied, neither of these people knew they had the virus that leads to AIDS, most likely never got tested for it, and after it had run its course, died shortly after having let HIV progress to AIDS.

With the above, I don’t even have to highlight that these are cases of stars dying from AIDS more than 10 years ago.  Maybe their deaths are what caused people to take getting tested seriously which is why we don’t hear about that many deaths from it in the western world anymore.
