We all need comic relief from time to time. Certain businesses in the American business landscape have been there to keep us chuckling. I could go on for days and days on this topic, but I’ll resist. Instead of listing ALL of the silly businesses I’ll select my favorite 4.
- Luxury/Bottled Water – About 70 percent of the planet is covered in water making it the world’s most plentiful resource. Despite that fact several bottled water companies are making a killing putting water in bottles.
- Pet Rock – We can thank advertising executive Gary Dahl for this gem. Dahl wanted a pet that he didn’t have to feed, walk, or worry about in any form or fashion. Gary glued a pair of eyes on a few rocks and made himself a millionaire.
- Dog goggles – There isn’t much to say about this except they are shades for dogs. The owner is also a millionaire.
- Million Dollar Home Page – Alex Tew’s idea of creating a web page and charging 1 dollar per pixel seems insane. I’m sure you get the drift by now. Alex has sold those 1 million pixels and he’s rolling in cash. For a real eye sore visit the Million Dollar Home Page.
