Government vs Sports

11 Comments 28 August 2009

It’s sad to say that it is not uncommon to hear about professional athletes using or testing positive for some type of drug. If the occasion draws enough media attention, the law of the land steps in and starts kicking butt.

Why?

I go to work every day, and the government has never stepped in to reprimand me for taking “no dose” pills that allowed me to stay up all night and make my deadline.  Not even the “performance enhancing” sinus pills from behind the counter were an attention getter.

My company doesn’t generate half the revenue that the NFL, MLB, or NBA creates.  So why can’t these billion dollar industries police their own workers…?

With all the issues our nation faces should our congress spend its time regulating sports and drug usage?
